Upper Respiratory Infections in Rochester Hills, MI & Belleville, MI

An upper respiratory infection (URI) is a short-term (or acute) disease that affects the nasal passages and throat. URIs are extremely common and include illnesses, like the cold, the flu, and bronchitis, all of which can spread from person to person. The primary care providers at WellHealth Medical Associates have extensive experience treating upper respiratory infections, allowing patients to get the relief they need so they can breathe easier. If you or a family member are experiencing congestion, throat pain, sinus pressure, or other symptoms of respiratory infection, schedule an appointment at our practice in Rochester Hills or Belleville, MI to learn how we can help.

Mild URIs (like those caused by the common cold) may often clear up on their own with bed rest and plenty of fluid intake. For more severe cases, professional attention may be needed, especially if you are having difficulty getting air. URI treatments at WellHealth Medical Associates typically involve a health screening, and in some cases, chest x-rays to allow our staff to get a detailed look at your respiratory health. Depending on the source of your illness, we may prescribe antibiotics to fight the infection. We might also recommend over-the-counter pain drugs (like ibuprofen), antihistamines, or nasal sprays to help you feel more comfortable as you recover.

There are many different types of upper respiratory infections. During your consultation, we'll work to identify the cause of your condition so we can fight it at the source. Some common symptoms of upper respiratory infections include:

  • Sore throat
  • Fever
  • Head or body pain
  • Congestion
  • Sinus pressure
  • Runny nose
  • Coughing or sneezing fits
  • Reduced smell or taste

I’ve been going here for years now. Dr. Murthy is a great doctor. Always looks out for my best interest. Only thing I’ve ever had a problem with is getting called on Friday night for video when my appt was on a Wednesday. But I understand there’s only 2 providers and a lot of patients. Other than that they helped me with a lot. Thank you guys

Dr. Murthy is incredibly knowledgeable in treating even the most complicated health issues. I have multiple autoimmune problems and since I’ve started seeing him, he has given me my life back! He is very understanding and compassionate and his superior knowledge in rare diseases make it so easy to talk to him and get the best treatments. I never believed it was possible for me to have a life without pain and I am forever grateful to him for giving me that! His PA Dr. Olivia is the best, she is very easy to talk to and very compassionate and knowledgeable as well. The entire staff at this office are amazing 😊 My 3 year old daughter and I are always happy to go in and see everyone! They make you feel very comfortable, like you’re family 😁 This is by far the best Primary Care office I have been to in over 10 years and I’m so blessed to have found them Thank you 🙏
